The Heritage Crafts Association (HCA) is the advocacy body for traditional heritage crafts. Working in partnership with Government and key agencies, it provides a focus for craftspeople, groups, societies and guilds, as well as individuals who care about the loss of traditional crafts skills and works towards a healthy and sustainable framework for the future.
Durnin Research Ltd has been appointed by the Heritage Crafts Association to propose a methodology and engage in pilot work to evaluate the impact of the HCA’s interventions in preserving endangered craft skills.
The research aims to:
- Better understand what endangered craft skills contribute to society
- Better understand the difference HCA’s interventions to safeguard endangered crafts make to society
- Better understand limitations of HCA’s reach so as to better target future work
